Tesco reveals its Christmas treats and it includes giant pigs in blankets

CHRISTMAS may still be four months away, but Tesco shoppers can get all the festive feels right now as we reveal the supermarket’s seasonal menu.

Treats you’ll be able to tuck into come December 25 include these giant pigs in blankets.

Tesco is selling the giant porkers for £2 for a 274g pack of ten – although the supermarket hasn’t said how long each one is.

Each pork sausage has been seasoned with pepper before being hand wrapped in streaky bacon rashers.

These launch on November 23, so you’ve still got a little while before you can pick them up.

But to get you in the festive spirit, here’s what else you can expect to find from Tesco this Christmas.

Sadly, the supermarket has yet to reveal its nutritional information.

It’s not just Tesco that’s feeling jolly – we’ve spotted Christmas crackers already on sale at a garden centre in Surrey.

Cut this cake open and you’ll find a hidden centre filled with chocolate cereal malt balls.

The cake itself contains two layers of orange sponge and a layer of chocolate and orange brownie, sandwiched together with Belgian chocolate and orange buttercream.

Tesco has then hand-finished it with a white chocolate bauble decoration and maple flavoured buttercream.

The supermarket says it should serve 14 people, which is ideal for big families.

We couldn’t see other supermarkets selling a bauble cake, but watch this space as December gets closer.

The mac and cheese in these bites has been infused with mustard, so you’ll get a fiery kick when you bite into one.

And for an added meaty touch, each one has also been topped with pulled Applewood-smoked beef in a sweet BBQ sauce.

Tesco will be selling these in packs of 12, so plenty for the whole family.

We’ve asked how much they weigh and we’ll update this article when we know more.

If you’re not fussed about the added meat, you can save money by buying frozen mac and cheese bites for £1.25 from Asda.

If you’re a fan of sausage rolls, you’ll love this giant porker “log” by Tesco.

It’s made of seasoned pork meat wrapped in puff pastry decorated with festive pastry leaves.

Tesco says it serves ten people, so there should be plenty to go around.

We couldn’t see another supermarket selling a sausage roll log, but as an alternative, you can buy 50 mini sausage rolls from Tesco for £1.25.

Tesco says this gingerbread latte Irish cream liqueur is ideal for an after-dinner tipple.

You’ll taste sweet malty biscuit notes and warming ginger, enhanced with a subtle coffee bitterness.

Serve it neat over ice or add to hot chocolate or coffee.

Aldi sold a 70cl bottle gingerbread cream liqueur for £9.99 last year, but it’s not clear if the supermarket will sell this again in 2020.

This indulgent tiffin star is made with white chocolate chunks and chewy fudge swirled through a silky-smooth Belgian chocolate ganache.

It’s then been enriched with sultanas and shortcake balls, and finally finished with a sprinkle of gold lustre.

As we don’t know the pricing for this dessert yet, we can’t compare prices for value.

If you’re not a fan of turkey, Tesco is selling this British whole lamb leg, topped with a sticky sweet Seville orange and maple glaze.

To finish it off, the lamb has also been coated in a gluten-free pumpkin and sunflower seed crumb.

Tesco says this serves between four to six people, depending on what size you pick up.

The supermarket hasn’t released pricing information for its leg of lamb yet, but we’ll update this article when they do.

Last year, the Tesco 2019 Christmas menu featured a pigs in blanket stuffing wreath.

Aldi has also released its Christmas 2020 range and it includes truffle pigs in blankets.

Lidl has beaten Tesco and Aldi to win cheapest supermarket for a basket of 78 essential items.
