– The Ministry of Defence will hold naval exercises off the coast of Syria in the Mediterranean from Sept. 1 to Sept. 8.
– The Ministry of Culture has increased its control over Russia’s Cinema Foundation, which receives 3 billion roubles ($44.04 million) in government financing a year to support domestic filmmakers. The ministry is now able to influence the way subsidies are used, the conditions for producers obtaining them and the appointment of the foundation’s director.
– Russia’s consumer watchdog currently withdraws three times more imported food products from the market for failing to meet standards than it used to ten years ago, the newspaper writes.
