Madonna never paid ‘$1m Russian fine’ for 2012 LGBTQ+ speech

Madonna has revealed she was hit with a one million dollar fine by the Russian government.

The 61-year-old pop icon tweeted on Monday that she was issued the fine in 2012 ‘for supporting the Gay community’.

‘I made this speech at a concert in St. Petersburg 8 years ago,’ began the Ray of Light hitmaker’s tweet.

‘I was fined 1 million dollars by The government for supporting the Gay community,’ continued the artist, whose full name is Madonna Louise Ciccone.

She concluded, ‘I never paid……………….. #freedomofspeech #powertothepeople #mdna’.

Included was a video of the speech in question, during which Madonna told the St. Petersburg audience, many of whom carried rainbow flags, ‘I’m here to say that the gay community, and gay people, here and all around the world, have the same rights… the same rights to be treated with dignity, with respect, with tolerance, with compassion, with love.’

Russia famously has long held strongly conservative views regarding homosexuality, and in 2013 a federal law was enacted banning public support of ‘non-traditional’ sexual relationships.

The activism throwback comes just days after Madonna shared racy images of her with her 25-year-old dancer beau Ahlamalik Williams.

The pop icon continued to make people blush when she shared how her much younger boyfriend is helping her recover from her recent knee injury.

Madge found a way to make her time in physical therapy sexy as she rubbed up against Ahlamalik to perform a very provocative stretch on Instagram Thursday.

‘Rehab doesn’t have to be boring…………’  the Justify My Love singer captioned her pics.

The diva had Ahlamalik’s attention as she put her backside up high while planting her hands on the ground in front of her and resting her hips on his front.

Williams – who was first linked to Madonna when they were seen vacationing in Miami together this past December – stood behind her close, holding on tight so she wouldn’t loose her balance.

In another shot the Ray Of Light singer lied on a yoga mat and stretched her arms while letting her golden locks fan out from her crown elegantly.

It looked like the star was recovering well from from her recent knee injury.

At the end of May, Madonna was seen leaving hospital while being supported by a crutch as she continues to recover from her recent knee injury.

The singer has been dealing with her injury since March when she fell on stage and since has relied on using a cane and knee supports.

In March, Madonna wrote on Instagram about hurting her knees while falling on stage two nights prior ‘when a chair was literally pulled out from underneath me by mistake and I landed on the floor on my tail bone.’

She described herself as ‘a broken doll held together with tape and glue’ as she announced she was taking some much needed bed rest in hopes of finishing her Madame X tour which launched in September 2019.

But she appeared to be feeling healthier early this month when she shared a topless selfie that showed her leaning on one of her crutches.

‘Everyone has a crutch,’ she wrote in the tongue-in-cheek caption.
