A man allegedly paralyzed a 13-year-old girl by shooting her in the back when she refused to have sex with him.
Shamar Walker, 18, allegedly flew into a violent rage after the girl called him a ‘little boy’ as he followed her on her walk home in Gary, Indiana.
The girl was found on the ground, unable to move by a passerby at around midnight near East 20th Avenue and Mississippi Street after she was shot on January 24.
She was paralyzed from the chest down after a bullet became lodged in her spine, The Times of Northwest Indiana reported.
She told officers she had previously had sex with Walker who she told she was 15-years-old and had been visiting a relative’s home when he began pestering her, court records state.
They began arguing and she gathered her things to leave. Walker is then alleged to have pursued her, asking her why she was ‘doing this to him.’
The girl said that shortly after she called him a little boy she heard the crack of gunfire and fell to the ground, lying there for ‘what felt like hours.’
Walker was hauled in on Wednesday and charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery resulting in serious bodily injury and battery by means of a deadly weapon/
He is being held without bail and a court date has not yet been set down.
