A former Clinton White House Press Secretary took a hit at Rush Limbaugh Monday, claiming he was ‘rethinking’ the well wishes he sent on learning the right-wing pundit is battling cancer.
Joe Lockhart, who served in Bill Clinton’s administration between 1998 and 2000, made the comments after Limbaugh on his radio show Friday suggested that Democratic Vice Presidential pick Kamala Harris slept her way to the top.
The conservative talk-show host spoke of ‘the question of using sex to get ahead’, referencing two articles that refer to Harris as a ‘h*e’ and a ‘mattress’.
‘Several months ago I tweeted well wishes to Rush Limbaugh on his health fight. I’m rethinking that tweet this morning,’ Lockhart said in a tweet after Limbaugh’s claims.
The tweet Lockhart referred to having sent in February was also a backhanded slight to Limbaugh, in which he criticized Trump for awarding the radio personality the Medal of Freedom.
Limbaugh was presented with the medal, one of the nation’s highest civilian honors, during this year’s State of the Union address after announcing that he was battling ‘advanced lung cancer’ on February 3.
‘I wish a full recovery for Rush Limbaugh but the idea he deserves a medal of freedom is offensive,’ Lockhart wrote in a February 4 tweet.
‘He’s built a radio empire on spreading hate, spewing disinformation and dividing Americans. It cheapens the Medal for every person who earned the distinction. Typical Trump.’
Yet, Lockhart alleged he would even take back those ‘well wishes’ Monday after Limbaugh’s latest hit on Harris.
On his Friday show, Limbaugh had spoken about several articles that discussed the California senator’s brief relationship with San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, which happened 25 years ago.
One of the articles refers to Harris as an ‘escort’.
During the show, he discussed the dismissal of a freelance photographer from the NBA, who he claims was fired for sharing an images on Facebook that read ‘Joe and the Hoe’.
‘Now, what do you think that’s about, “Joe and the Hoe”?’ Limbaugh asked.
‘Then there is this from The Spectator: “Why It Should Matter to Women That Kamala Slept Her Way Up,”’ he added referencing the second article.
‘Whoa! You know what that’s about? That’s about Willie Brown.
‘So we have two different stories here that are trading off the known fact that she was Willie Brown’s mattress, and that he has written about it, and that he has talked about how it propelled her — that he ended up being one of her mentors.
‘And yet there’s no — there’s no reaction to this whatsoever. And now we have something new that’s been thrust — ahem — into American politics, and that is the question of using sex to get ahead,’ Limbaugh added.
Limbaugh, a fervent supporter of Trump, has previously compared Harris to porn star Stormy Daniels, who claimed she had an affair with the president and was paid to keep quiet about it.
‘I’m sitting here, I’m trying to figure out what’s the difference between Stormy Daniels and Kamala Harris? Well, I mean, stop and think about it,’ he asked in January 2019.
‘What is the real difference? One difference is that she’s not trying to shut Willie Brown up.’
Limbaugh was also a massive critic of the Clinton administration in which Lockhart served.
