Boy, 8, critically injured after fall from third-story window

An eight-year-old boy was critically injured after falling from a third-story window of an apartment building in Chicago over the weekend. 

Chicago police said officers were called to the city’s Washington Park neighborhood Sunday night around 10.55pm. 

Authorities said the boy fell from a third-floor window of an apartment complex in the 5200-block of South Prairie Avenue.

According to ABC 7, the child was found by a passerby on the sidewalk unresponsive. 

He was rushed to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition. 

Footage from the scene showed police officers outside the apartment building, taping off the area. 

On Monday, police said they are investigating the incident as an accidental injury case.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is also investigating the incident.

No other details about the incident have been released.
