Which area in the UK has the worst blue badge parking penalties?
NEW RESEARCH HAS DISCUSSED THE COUNTRIES WITH THE HIGHEST RATE OF BLUE BLADE PARKING OFFENSES, BUT WHERE IN THE UK IS THE WORST?
According to the Uswitch, Milton Keynes came out on top with 5,962 total penalty charge notices for a blue badge. This equates to one blue badge parking violation for every 41 individuals.
Manchester, with just under 5,800 people, was beaten by the city by a hair.
The top five were Leeds, Birmingham, and Colchester.
With 3,714 offenses, Barking and Dagenham was the London borough with the most blue badge related penalties, with 750 more than second-placed Lambeth.
More blue badge offenses have been reported in Barking and Dagenham than in 44 of the UK’s top 50 cities.
Cheshire West & Chester was the only local authority that issued more off-street penalties than on-street warnings.
People who park in these places without a blue badge, according to Joel Kempson, a car insurance specialist, are taking advantage of those who actually use them.
“The government developed the Blue Badge Scheme to enable persons with severe mobility impairments park near to where they need to go, allowing cars to park on yellow lines for up to three hours or on the street for free where there are parking meters or handicapped spaces,” he stated.
“Violators of the Blue Badge policy might be fined up to £1,000.” Despite the possibility of stiff penalties, many motorists appear to violate the law, willing to risk significant fines only to park for free or closer to their destination.
“This behavior is inconsiderate of Blue Badge users who rely on these places to get from point A to point B independently.
“Misuse of the Blue Badge Scheme” refers to the use of expired badges, the use of a genuine badge by someone who isn’t authorized, and the use of a badge that has been reported lost or stolen.
“Policies in each region are enforced by the local council. The most effective enforcers were Milton Keynes Council, which issued more than 5,900 fines, the most in the UK.
“If you are disabled, it is critical that you disclose this in your auto insurance application, as neglecting to do so could result in your coverage being revoked.
