Up to £100,000 for a classic Mercedes previously owned by Britt Ekland and Peter Sellers.
CLASSIC vehicle collectors may now purchase a classic Mercedes-Benz 230SL that was once owned by two movie stars.
Britt Ekland received the model completely new as a gift from her husband, Peter Sellers, who had purchased it. The model was supplied by Normand Mercedes in Park Lane and delivered to the movie star at Pinewood Studios, according to documents.
When the Mercedes goes up for auction, it’s expected to fetch between £80,000 and £100,000.
The model has undergone a complete restoration, which is backed up by bills and paperwork.
The car has a new electric aerial and a modern radio with phone connectivity.
It features a new hood and great hardtop, as well as a current MOT.
The vehicle is “wonderfully presented,” according to Car and Classic, and would make a terrific addition to any collection.
The express condition assessment gives it a four-star rating and a score of 103 out of 135 points.
This indicates that the vehicle is in excellent, nearly perfect condition.
The rating indicates that the vehicle is “mechanically and cosmetically sound” and is “only driven on occasion.”
The car’s bodywork and interior components, such as the doors and seating, are praised.
The transmission, electrics, and suspension of the car were also lauded for their excellent condition.
The car’s brakes, carpets, and engine components, however, were only given a three-star rating.
This still indicates they’re in good shape, but they’re in a state that shows they’ve been driven and enjoyed.
Gary Dunne, CCA’s Sales Manager, has urged potential bidders to review the whole lot list before the auction.
Each vehicle, he warns, will be a “one-of-a-kind opportunity” for historic car collectors or enthusiasts.
“In this sale on Saturday, June 26th, we have some absolutely great examples, the diversity is truly fantastic!” he remarked.
“I would advise anyone who is interested to go to our website and look at the whole lot list, which includes detailed photographs and videos of each automobile.
“Each lot has a unique opportunity, so sign up to bid today!”
