The DVLA has enlisted the services of a classic automobile club to help manage the massive volume of applications for driver’s licenses.

The DVLA has partnered with a classic automobile organization to better handle the workload of license applications.

The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) has stepped in to assist the DVLA with outsourced registration operations. This is despite the fact that there is a massive backlog of over 1.4 million license applications.

The DVLA has been faced with a massive surge in workload as a result of the pandemic’s personnel shortages.

The Federation hopes that the new alliance will help with the historic vehicle backlog.

The FBHVC will handle portion of the DVLA’s investigation and verification of the vintage vehicle community.

The FBHVC’s chairman, David Whale, commended the action and expressed optimism that it will have a positive impact.

“We understand that, despite longer turnaround times, the DVLA is beginning to get back on top of applications in our industry, and we’ve been in touch with them to see how we can help.

“Our priority is to get vintage automobiles that should be on the road on the road as soon as possible so that their owners and the public may appreciate them.”

They’ve previously worked with the DVLA on projects such as the V765 program, which allowed drivers to register a car with its original registration number.

The FBHVC was also in charge of approving imports and applications for vintage cars (VHI).

The DVLA’s representative praised the “excellent” collaboration.

“We are glad that the FBHVC has a positive and constructive relationship with the Vehicle Policy team at the DVLA, and I am keen that this continues and is strengthened,” they stated.

“In addition, we now have a Corporate Services team that works closely with our major stakeholders.

“When applications for historic cars are unable to be completed using standard procedures, we evaluate each case on its own merits.

It’s Kwik Fits’ Midsommer Madness promotion, which means you can save 10% on your MOT Test with the UK’s #1 MOT tester if you book online.

“If additional evidence is required, we also provide applicants with assistance on how to best proceed with their application.
