In an interview with the Japanese publication 4Gamer, Final Fantasy XVI developer and Final Fantasy XIV Online savior Naoki Yoshida recently raved about the Ghost of Tsushima (translated by Audrey on Twitter).
Yoshida heaped praise on the PlayStation 4 exclusive when asked what he felt was the most impressive title of 2020. “It’s brimming with love for Akira Kurosawa’s work,” he said. “I learned a lot from this game. It impressed me on so many levels!”
This isn’t the first time a famous figure has raved about Sucker Punch’s samurai epic in the Japanese gaming industry. After the open-world title was published last year, Toshihiro Nagoshi, the father of the Yakuza franchise, also shared his appreciation for the Ghost of Tsushima.
With Final Fantasy XVI still in production, it will be important to see if Sony’s open-world title inspires the finished version. Yeah, and don’t worry if you’re looking forward to learning more about Final Fantasy XVI itself. Yoshida reiterates in the same interview that later this year we’ll get new information.
