In case you missed it, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is getting a PlayStation 5 edition.
Toys for Bob is increasing performance, reducing load times, and embracing DualSense’s features in the upgrade, and it’s a freebie if you already own the game.
That’s all good and well, but what of Activision’s other big retro-tinged game of 2020, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2? Will it too be seeing a bump up to the new hardware?
Well, it’s a little too early to say for sure, but the Birdman himself is certainly causing a stir. Over on good ol’ Twitter, Mr.
Tony Hawk has called out the orange marsupial, asking for help convincing Activision to bring his skateboarding remake to PS5.
On its own, it seems fairly innocuous, but there’s more to it.
There’s a strange level of activity on this tweet from official channels; the accounts for both Activision and for the game itself have retweeted Tony’s request, and the account for Crash Bandicoot has responded:
Whoa! Who’s dis? JK let me see what I can do 🤔 @Activision, any help?— Crash Bandicoot (@CrashBandicoot) February 22, 2021
This is all fairly small stuff really, but it all seems like a calculated move from where we’re sitting. We can’t imagine this activity has sprung from nowhere.
The Tony Hawk remake would be a great candidate for a PS5 boost; it already looks good and runs perfectly on PS4, but picture it with ray tracing, near-instant loading, and some nifty DualSense haptics. While we’re speculating, what about bringing Crash to Pro Skater as a playable character? You know it makes sense.
Even after breaking our back making an extensive Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 guide, we’d be happy to kickflip back into it on PS5. What do you think? Is this all hinting at a new-gen version? Discuss in the comments section below.
