Richard Hammond auctions off antique automobiles for £230,000 to fund a new business venture.

To help support his new restoration firm, RICHARD HAMMOND has sold eight of his own historic vehicle collection.

Five motorcycles and three cars from the Grand Tour host’s personal collection were auctioned off. This was done at Silverstone Auctions over the weekend in order to earn funds for his newest project, The Smallest Cog.

He raised a stunning £231,000 from the sale of his eight automobiles.

His famous 1999 Lotus Esprit Sport 350, which sold for £65,250, was the most expensive sale.

It is one of only 48 constructed and comes with a complete engine rebuild and is in excellent condition both inside and out.

His shiny silver 1969 Porsche 911T came in second place for £60,750.

Richard Hammond wrote on his Instagram account, “Hello, I’m at the Silverstone Classic Auction, it’s Sunday morning, and I’m emptying out my toybox.”

“The reasons are complicated; there has been a stumbling block with my massive workshop project.

“If you’re curious in why and how it works, the show will premiere later this year.

“In the meanwhile, wish me luck because this is going to be difficult. But it’s all in the name of a good cause.”

His five motorcycles were sold for a total of £72,719.

His 2019 Norton Dominator 961 Street Limited Edition, which sold for £25,650, was the highlight of his motorcycle collection.

Hammond purchased the limited edition model for his 50th birthday, which was number 50 out of just 50 built.

His 1932 Velocette KSS Mk1 was also up for auction, and it sold for £9,225.

It’s Kwik Fits’ Midsommer Madness promotion, which means you can save 10% on your MOT Test with the UK’s #1 MOT tester if you book online.

The pre-war motorcycle was stated to be in good working order and had been restored to a “very high standard.”

“Three days of great auctions, world-records achieved, motorcycles, historic automobiles, and competition cars all crossed the block,” Silverstone Auctions wrote on Twitter.

“Not to mention the opportunity to sell the Richard Hammond Collection, which we have thoroughly enjoyed!”

Richard Hammond was filming for his DriveTribe YouTube channel and his future Discovery+ TV show while at the auction.

Richard Hammond’s Workshop, which will include him and The Smallest, will premiere on Netflix later this year. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
