PS5’s Destruction AllStars Promises Immersive DualSense Feedback, Atmospheric 3D Audio

The flagship features of Sony’s next-gen console, the PlayStation 5, are awesome when used to their full potential – but we’re not really seeing much of that right now.

Third-parties are barely scratching the surface of what devices like the DualSense can do, so we’ve been eagerly anticipating the next round of first-party releases.

That all begins next week with Destruction AllStars, which is being developed by Lucid Games in conjunction with Sony XDev Europe.

As you’d expect, the release will benefit from lightning fast loading times, courtesy of the PS5’s ultra-fast SSD. More interestingly, though, is how the title will utilise the controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

“Experience your ride,” reads the game’s official website. “Get unique feedback for each vehicle thanks to the DualSense Wireless Controller’s adaptive triggers. Experience the impact of rams and slams as the [controller’s] dual actuators simulate the feel of your in-game actions through immersive sensory feedback.”

There’ll also be 3D audio support as well: “How the crunch of slamming into an opponent is meant to sound! Hear stunning 360-degree stadium atmospherics with Tempest 3D AudioTech.” Obviously, the proof will be in the pudding – there are plenty of recent releases that have promised to leverage the PS5’s features, only to fall short – but we’re confident this one will do a good job.
