Acquire president Takuma Endo indicated in an interview with Japanese gaming bible Famitsu that he would like to develop a new stealth ninja game for the PlayStation 5, similar to the Tenchu titles, for his company.
He explained that the company recently reacquired the Stealth Assassin brand, as translated by Gematsu, which has led to passionate pleas from fans of the old PlayStation franchise.
“It would be difficult to do that now,” he said. But I would love to develop a stealth ninja game from scratch for the PS5 generation if the opportunity arises.
“We acquired this brand, which is the subtitle of the game overseas, to lay the groundwork for that. “Endo would not announce anything specific, but it is nice to know that he has the ambition to revisit the formula at least.
With Shadow Assassins coming out in 2009 for the PlayStation Portable, the last Tenchu game was decades ago. However, the very likeable Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen for the PS Vita, which was a 2012 launch title, was also developed by Acquire. You want to see the series back in the spotlight?
