On its 30th anniversary in the United Kingdom, Kia continues to push towards an electric future with a “ambitious agenda.”

As it celebrates 30 years in the UK, KIA has committed to incorporate electricity in its vehicles.

With the introduction of the Kia Pride in 1991, the South Korean manufacturer established its mark in the United Kingdom. Kia has sold nearly 1.2 million vehicles in the UK since its launch, with two-thirds of them sold in the last ten years.

Following the success of the e-Niro and Soul EV, Kia has committed to launching future electric cars as part of their “Plan S.”

Paul Philpott, the President and CEO of Kia UK Limited, applauded the company’s approach to electrification.

“Looking at the rate of progress we’ve made over the previous three decades, both in terms of what our cars now provide drivers and how perceptions of our brand have changed, it’s incredible,” he remarked.

“Our success is due not only to the products and services we provide, but also to the devotion and determination of our dealer partners, who relentlessly represent us to an increasing number of clients around the country.

“The year 2021 is a good time for us to reflect on where we’ve come from while also looking forward to where we’re going.

“We’re embarking on an ambitious strategy to launch a range of dedicated new EVs over the next five years, and our product line-up is increasingly crowded with hybrid and electric vehicles.

The Kia EV6, which will appear in UK stores later this year, will be the first of them, according to Philpott.

The EV6 was on show at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex over the weekend, alongside a special edition Kia Stinger GT420.

It is expected to be the company’s new flagship electric vehicle, capable of charging to 80% in just 20 minutes.

Kia’s current lineup comprises the best-selling Sportage, the Ceed, and the smaller Picanto models.

Kia automobiles now account for 5% of the automotive market share in the UK, as it commemorates three decades in the country.

This is Kia’s highest market share in the UK since its inception.

It’s Kwik Fits’ Midsommer Madness promotion, which means you can save 10% on your MOT Test with the UK’s #1 MOT tester if you book online.
