Mass Effect Legendary Edition Graphics Comparison Shows a Significant Step Forward

BioWare gave us our first real look at Mass Effect Legendary Edition last week.

The remastered package includes all three titles from the original trilogy, touched up with improved character models, assets, textures, and lighting. It’s also set to run at 60 frames-per-second on PS5 and PS4 Pro, with support for 4K resolution.

We’ve already seen how Commander Shepard’s mug has been overhauled in the first game, but what about everything else? Well, GameSpot has put together an excellent nine-minute video that lines up shots from the original games (on PC) with shots from the reveal trailer, which we’ve embedded above. It doesn’t take long to realise that the Legendary Edition is an expected leap in the right direction. Everything’s got an extra level of detail, and the lighting’s a lot more effective.

The difference isn’t quite as noticeable in Mass Effect 3 (again, expected), but overall, Legendary Edition looks great.
