Jeremy Clarkson is enraged after the council rejected his plans for a restaurant at his Diddly Squat Farm.
According to Clarkson’s Farm, his hit Amazon Prime TV show, the Top Gear host had previously planned to open a new café at his farm in West Oxfordshire.
After revealing his plans to expand the farm, Clarkson received a harsh backlash from residents in Oxfordshire, with more than 50 objections filed with the council.
On the site near Chadlington, Oxfordshire, the 61-year-old had hoped to build a new 60-seat café and a car park with 70 spaces.
On Monday (January 10) the TV host went to West District Council to make his case to councillors for why his restaurant should be approved, but he was unsuccessful.
“It’s diversification of a farming business,” Jeremy said in a personal plea to the council.
We’ve already begun conversing with our neighbors.”
“Farmers look after the woodland, the hedges, the streams, and the fields – they keep it beautiful,” he continued.
“Due to the farmer’s financial situation, farmers will not be able to do that for much longer.”
As farmers, we’ve been told to diversify, and that’s exactly what this proposal proposes.”
Clarkson went on to say that everyone was “very excited” about the company.
