ITV isn’t working: What’s the matter with ITV? How long will it be out of commission?

ITV is not working according to several reports from viewers this afternoon. So why is ITV down? How long will it be down for?

ITV is down, with dozens of viewers reporting issues with both picture and audio this afternoon. Website DownDetector has seen reports on ITV spike since 3.20pm – with complaints around distorted images and jumbled audio.

As yet there has been no reason given behind the technical issues.

Those experiencing problems (90 percent) say live channels are the issue.

Reports have come from across the country including Bristol, Sheffield, Essex, Teddington and West Yorkshire.

On DownDetector there have been more than 1,000 reports of ITV having issues in the last hour.

These have complained about pixilated screens, freezing pictures and poor signal.

Some have also complained of signal being lost for 10 minutes at a time.

Others have been greeted with an error message which reads “We’re sorry for the disruption.

“We’re working hard to fix the issue and will return to normal programming soon.”

Freeview has acknowledged the issues when responding to users on Twitter.

Replying to one person complaining Freeview said: “We are aware of issues with ITV channels just now.

“We do not have any more info as yet. We do recommend not retuning.”

The outage follows a week of disruption for social media users, with apps Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp suffering a six-hour hiatus due to a technical issue last Monday.
