‘Google keeps shutting down.’ How to resolve the vexing Android crash bug that is plaguing users
A NEW GLITCH IN THE GOOGLE APP has left Android users locked in a frustrating crashing loop, but there is a workaround. Here’s how to fix the crash on your Google Pixel, Sony, Samsung, or Motorola phone and get things back to normal.
Android phones from Samsung, Google, Sony, and Motorola are crashing on a regular basis with no apparent cause. Notifications stating that “Google keeps halting” have been sent to some users. The pop-up appears to be about the Google app, which appears to be causing the crashes. Last night, Google put out an update to the Google app, which automatically installed on thousands of cellphones overnight, bringing the issue with it.
The Google app is a shortcut to the most recent headlines and forecasts, as well as Google web searches, translations, and more. It also runs a number of other key Android applications, such as Android Auto, which brings the Android UI to your car’s infotainment system, the hands-free AI assistant Google Assistant, Google Podcasts, and more. The above apps are also failing and continuously crashing due to a bug in the Google app.
So, what are your options?
As fate would have it, Google has begun to distribute a fresh beta version of its next Google app update. Beta software is inherently unstable, and it is not advised for someone who relies on their phone to work reliably every day. The current beta, on the other hand, appears to feature a patch for the Google app problem. A handful of customers have reported that switching to the Google app’s unstable test version fixes their issues.
Thank you, Google and Android. If you have the opportunity, test even more. When pop-ups appear every 5 seconds on your screen, you’ll be annoyed. #GoogleBug #crash pic.twitter.com/UP1WSGWg0s
The problem “Google keeps stopping” on Android appears to be widespread. The message “Google sadly ceased working” appears first, followed by the phrase “keeps stopping” every few minutes. When you force Google to stop, the crash notification goes away, but other apps stop operating (eg search and weather) pic.twitter.com/niuh2l910M
For some reason, the #Google App is now crashing constantly.
I’ve tried restarting and reinstalling the program, but nothing changes.
So there you have it…
I’ll have to turn it off.
