Google Chromecast has just launched a new option to watch TV that Amazon Fire TV doesn’t have.
GOOGLE has introduced an intriguing new approach to find your next binge-worthy show… It’s also unlike anything you’ll find on Amazon’s Fire TV competitor.
Chromecast with Google TV and Amazon Fire TV are the two most popular streaming devices on the market. Both of these little devices have similar capabilities, such as beautiful menus with high-resolution artwork, voice search, access to all of the major streaming applications, and lists to keep track of shows and movies across several video on-demand services, among other things.
Google, on the other hand, is releasing a new function that will be unfamiliar to Fire TV owners.
The new service, dubbed Watch with Me, pulls together film and television recommendations from A-list personalities. In addition to boxsets and movies, the dedicated Watch With Me website will have an exclusive interview with the featured celebrity, in which they’ll describe their favorites and why you should start binge-watching them.
Laverne Cox, an Emmy-nominated performer and LGBTQ+ activist, will star in the first Watch With Me.
The names of the celebs expected to follow the Orange Is the New Black star have yet to be published by Google. However, this is a really unusual method of discovering your next favorite boxset. With so many new programs available on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, YouTube, and NOW, to mention a few, it can be difficult to sort through the limitless options and choose anything to watch.
Both the Chromecast with Google TV and the Fire TV try to alleviate this problem by making suggestions based on your viewing history.
So, if you binge-watch countless true crime documentaries on your set-top box, don’t be surprised if shows like Making A Murderer, The Jinx, and The Staircase are front-and-center when you turn on the box after work.
While music streaming apps like Apple Music have used celebrities to construct playlists of their favorite songs, Watch With Me is the first time a similar strategy has been taken for streaming series and films.
Chromecast with Google TV is now available for £59.99.
