For the holidays, Verizon has PS5 consoles in store — but there’s a fee.

GAMERS looking to get their hands on a PlayStation 5 for the holidays now have another option courtesy to Verizon.

What’s the catch? You must be a current Verizon customer, and it is on a first-come, first-served basis.

PS5 Disc and Digital Edition Consoles are now available from Verizon!

Verizon follows in the footsteps of BT and EE in the United Kingdom, which frequently stock the PS5 for its consumers.

The consoles are frequently included as a bonus with phone or broadband subscriptions.

Verizon confirmed to PCMag that it will join the console-selling fray.

It did not specify when customers will be able to purchase it, though.

“Verizon will offer a very limited number of Sony PlayStation 5 systems in a few pilot stores and online in the near future.” “Inventory will be accessible on a first-come, first-served basis.”

The catch is that you have to be a Verizon customer to be eligible for one, and even then, it’s not guaranteed.

“To purchase a PS5 console online, users must have an existing, post-paid Verizon wireless account, subject to availability and existing inventory,” the spokesman explained.

We’d like to believe that customers will be notified before the stock lowers, but it’s worth keeping an eye on the company’s social media accounts.

Customers are notified via Twitter by BT and EE, so if you’re a Verizon customer, make sure you’ve turned on notifications.

Retailers are well aware of how frantic gamers are for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, both of which are still in low supply a year after their initial release.

When both systems are restocked, Walmart, GameStop, and Best Buy all have incentive schemes that grant early or exclusive access to both consoles.

Prices vary, and in some circumstances, a free trial does not qualify you for the entire plan; you must sign up for the complete scheme.

It appears that simply shopping for a PS5 will cost you money, but this will be the standard for a time until the semi-conductor scarcity is resolved.
