Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram are all down – Is this the biggest hack ever?
Following an unexplained outage that has impacted hundreds of millions of people, Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram are reporting significant disruptions throughout their networks.
The downtime of all three services, as well as Facebook Messenger, was widely covered on social media. On Facebook, users reported receiving a 505 error message. “Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, which are all controlled by Facebook, are all down,” Mike Sington stated.

The cause of the outage is unknown, however problems were reported at 4.44pm BST.
Outages on all three main networks began at roughly the same time, according to trend aggregators, however none of the platforms has claimed being hacked.
According to Downdetector, there have been 70,802 Whatsapp outages in the United Kingdom.

In the last hour, Facebook has reported up to 123,909 new users.
According to the tracker, Instagram has 97,013 users in the United States.
Since then, all three platforms have issued comments indicating that they are trying to remedy the problems.
“We’re aware that some people are having difficulty using WhatsApp right now,” WhatsApp said.
“We’re striving to restore normalcy and will provide an update as soon as possible.”
“I appreciate your patience!”
“We’re aware that some individuals are having problems accessing the Facebook app,” Facebook wrote.
“We’re working hard to get everything back to normal as soon as possible, and we regret for any difficulty this may have caused.”
“Instagram and friends are having some troubles right now, and you may be having issues utilizing them,” Instagram warned.
“Be patient with us; we’re working on it!”
However, outages have begun to decline, with Downdetector reporting troubles on Instagram in the UK dropping from 29,794 to near 10,000.
Following a high of 56,918 outages, Facebook’s statistics have started to dip to 25,000, while Whatsapp’s outages have dropped to close to 20,000.
