Do you think you know how to park your car properly? A video demonstrating the proper route to Bay Park has gone viral.

According to a recent viral social media video, drivers may have been stopping in parking bays incorrectly for years.

Instead of halting in the center of the bay, the video shows drivers stopping their left side wheels on the parking line. This frees up a lot of room for drivers to get in and out of their vehicles while lowering the chance of damage or prangs.

Bigbruva 77, a user on the social media network TikTok, posted the video.

With over 321,000 likes and over 3,000 comments on Facebook, the video has gone viral.

“What if I told you all we’ve been parking in the wrong spaces the whole time?” he asked.

“This is where we pick up GM vehicles; have a look at the way they park.

“You can see how perfectly spaced they are because they park on the line.

“Imagine how many dings would be reduced if everyone parked on the line.

“It would also allow you more room to get into and out of your automobile.

“All along, we’ve been doing it wrong.”

Many social media users reacted to the video, with many warning that enforcing it would be very difficult.

“It only works if everyone did this, which would never happen,” another added.

Millions of UK drivers are injured every year as a result of car park collisions.

According to a Skoda survey conducted in 2020, 11% of UK drivers, or 3.74 million road users, cause harm to their own vehicle while hunting for a parking spot.

After a parking park shunt, drivers have been left with an average repair bill of £396.

Four out of ten people admitted to hitting another car with their door, with 40% hitting a light, tree, or car park divider.

Increased car sizes, according to some experts, are to blame for the increase in accidents.
