Customers of Virgin Media were offered a new solution to improve their broadband speeds.
Virgin Media customers were given a new option to boost their broadband speeds.
VIRGIN Media has joined the government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme to provide faster internet to thousands of its subscribers.
Thousands of Virgin Media customers may soon be able to get ultra-fast Gigabit internet. Users can download a whole HD movie in just 40 seconds thanks to this lightning-fast technology, which is 18 times faster than the UK average. As more individuals use the internet to work from home and binge-watch endless boxsets, faster connections are becoming increasingly vital.
You might get cheaper bandwidth when you add a phone line to your Virgin Media contract. For 100Mbps speeds, this equates to £25 per month.
Despite recent promises that the UK’s internet sector will see record investment, large sections of the country continue to have sluggish download speeds, but Virgin is hopeful that a new incentive will help. The telecommunications operator said that certain consumers will now be able to use the government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme.
If you didn’t know, these Vouchers are worth up to £1,500 for homeowners and £3,500 for businesses, and they help cover the costs of establishing gigabit-capable broadband.
Residents may benefit from higher speeds if a complete community united together and applied for the financing rather than waiting for the traditional fiber rollout to arrive in their region.
As part of an initial trial, Virgin Media is seeking residents in West Sussex to express their interest in using Gigabit Broadband Vouchers in conjunction with private investment to connect them to some of the nation’s fastest broadband speeds of up to 1.1Gbps.
The average broadband speed in the area is 43.8Mbps, while many businesses have significantly slower connections. A blockbuster film would take around 13 minutes to download at that speed, while a PS5 game would take nearly two hours to reach the device.
“We’re leading the UK broadband charge with the country’s largest gigabit network, which is expanding to new regions every day,” said Rob Evans, Virgin Media O2’s Managing Director of Fixed Network Expansion.
“Our goal is to modernize the United Kingdom, and this voucher scheme, together with our continuous private investment, will help to bring the benefits of next-generation digital infrastructure to areas that are more difficult to reach.
