As the strike action continues, drivers are enraged by massive DVLA delays.
Customers of the Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) have expressed dissatisfaction in recent weeks as a result of delays caused by staff strike action. As a result, paperwork has been delayed, and some Britons are still waiting for licenses they filed for in April.
Employees at the DVLA have been on strike since early May. Staff at the organization’s Swansea headquarters have gone on strike over COVID-19 safety concerns.
The DVLA has sparked outrage among Britons on social media.
Many people have complained about having to wait weeks for their driver’s licenses and other documents.
The majority of the delays have been caused by internal labor disputes.
Employees who belong to the Public and Commercial Services union (PCS) began four days of strike action on May 4th.
The DVLA has been accused of forcing strikers to work in dangerous conditions.
The union stated at the time that it was taking action after failing to reach an agreement on the number of employees who would work at the site each day.
Despite worker concerns about safety protocols following a COVID-19 outbreak at the Swansea centre last December, 2,000 individuals per day entered the premises, according to the PCS.
It proposed reducing the number of employees to hundreds and allowing vulnerable employees to work from home.
The DVLA, on the other hand, stated that it had followed all Welsh Government safety guidelines and cautioned that the action would have an impact on motorists.
The walkout was called off due to “unreasonable and crass” behavior by DVLA management, according to PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka.
Employees of the DVLA have been on strike since May 4.
From Monday, June 7 through Saturday, June 12, there was industrial action.
“Industrial action is expected between Monday 7 June and Saturday 12 June that will directly impair DVLA’s contact centre service,” the DVLA said on its Facebook page.
“We recommend that you do not contact our customer service center during this time. Our web chat, email, and social media outlets will also experience delays.”
Customers are also warned on the agency’s website that using the agency’s online services is the quickest and easiest option to finish their application.
“Due to social distance rules, we must have fewer workers on site at any given time than usual,” the statement added.
