The website, which claimed to include all of the NFTs available on the Solana and Ethereum blockchains, emerged out of nowhere.

According to The Verge, the site’s appearance is a carbon duplicate of an infamous pirating platform that even has a DMCA takedown link.

The new website, which goes by the moniker “The NFT Bay,” has even copied the original pirating website’s logo.

Furthermore, the website’s homepage included popular NFT collecting options with high price tags, such as the Bored Ape Yacht Club, CryptoPunks, and the earn-to-play game “Axie Infinity.”

‘The NFT Bay,’ as it’s known.

According to a report by Kotaku, Geoffrey Huntley, an Australian software and dev operations engineer, was responsible for the riff off on a legendary pirate website containing NFTs.

In an interview with Kotaku, Huntley described “The NFT Bay” as “an instructional art project” that aims to illustrate what NFTs are all about.

The man behind “The NFT Bay” went on to say that some people pay a lot of money to download or access a single picture file.

Some NFTs aren’t even “stored on the blockchain,” according to the Australian software developer. “The majority of photographs I’ve seen are hosted on web 2.0 storage,” he stated instead. As a result, the NFT’s value is likely to be lower than its selling price in such circumstances.
