Wigan administrators enter takeover negotiations on future acquisitions with three parties

After a Spanish bidder the its offer by nearly 50 percent, a proposed acquisition of Latics fell through on Tuesday.

Since then, Sky Bet League One club administrators have approached 23 potential buyers who have shown an interest in the past six months and have entered into serious negotiations with three of them. ‘We are delighted to announce that we have already entered into formal negotiations about a possible sale of the club with three parties,’ read a message on the website of Wigan. In the hope of obtaining a good result in the coming weeks, we will continue to provide relevant information to the respective parties. Before the club revealed this week that the deal had fallen through, an offer from the Spanish investor was accepted in September. The Latics, who sit in the League One relegation zone, were also struck by the corona virus with their next two games cancelled due to an outbreak in the camp.
