The main event of UFC 257 features Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier, but when does the fight start? Express Sport can provide you with all of the information you require.
The setting is prepared for Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier’s rematch on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. In their first fight in 2014, McGregor stopped the American in under two minutes. However, the Irish fighter feels he can do it even faster this time.
“I’ll knock Dustin out in 60 seconds,” McGregor stated.
“I admire Dustin and believe he is a capable boxer.
“You know, he’s also a fantastic boxer. However, great is still a step behind me.”
Poirier believes his chances of victory will grow as the bout progresses, assuming he can avoid McGregor’s predicted early onslaught.
“When we get dry early, he still has all the spring in his step,” the Louisiana native added.
“(He’s) an extremely dangerous person. It’s a good thing it’s only a 25-minute battle, because I feel like I’ve matured and refined my skills enough to be in the appropriate moments and take the correct risks without putting myself in danger right away.”
“I believe the better boxer wins in the lengthier fights,” he continued.
“In a battle, anyone might get harmed or submit early on.
“As a battle progresses and unfolds, the superior fighter usually emerges, and I simply want to demonstrate that I am the better fighter.
“I get going in the later rounds. Conor, I’m sure, has made changes.
“He’s slowed down in the later rounds, but I believe the longer this battle goes on, the better it will be for me.”
The preliminary card will begin at 1 a.m. GMT on Sunday, followed by the main card at 3 a.m.
Around 5 a.m., the main event between McGregor and Poirier will begin.
However, depending on how the card unfolds, this time could be sooner or later.
