What boxing is on TV tonight: Is there any boxing on TV tonight? Liam Smith against Magomed Kurbanov: How to Watch

TONIGHT IN RUSSIA – Liam Smith returns to the ring tonight against Mogomed Kurbanov…

Liam Smith will return later this afternoon as he goes to war in Russia with Magomed Kurbanov. The 32-year-old Scouser is fighting for the vacant WBO International Super Welter Title in Ekaterinburg with his squad.

The winner of the competition will have a decent chance of fighting at an international level later this year.

Smith hasn’t fought since defeating Roberto Garcia in Phoenix in December 2019, but he isn’t looking for easy battles.

While everyone is talking about Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders this weekend, ‘Beefy’ is hoping to reclaim the title he lost to the Mexican in 2016 at AT&T Stadium, which will also host the main event tomorrow night.

Kurbanov, on the other hand, is no pushover, having won all 21 of his professional fights, including 13 by knockout.

Despite the threat posed by the home judges, Smith is certain that he has the tools to complete the task on foreign land.

“If you throw a challenge my way, I’ll gladly accept it. When this fight was presented to me, I studied a video of Kurbanov and decided that if I showed up, I’d beat him ten times out of ten,” Smith remarked at the press conference.

“We’ve all been dealing with the pandemic, and there haven’t been many offers coming in, so I decided to take this battle. Everything made sense to me, and everyone is commenting about how terrific of a battle it is.

“Kurbanov has some punching power, and this is a bout that has made me sit up, take notice, and sink my teeth into. I’m in great shape and can’t wait to return.

“I’m nearing the end of my career, but I’ve only served in a few battles and live a good, clean life at home. I’m checking all the boxes and doing well at the gym, so I’m looking forward to being back under the spotlight.

“I’m pleased with my preparation and am confident in my ability to defeat Kurbanov. I’m not looking past him, but if I beat him, the door to some major battles will be wide open.”
