BOXING TONIGHT – Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders will fight tonight in Texas, but how will you be able to watch the fight?

It’s finally here. There will be no hiding place when Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders step through the ropes in the early hours of Sunday morning in Texas, after a year of preparation. Before the coronavirus epidemic shut down the world of sports a year ago, the super-middleweight unification was set to take place over Cinco de Mayo weekend.

Since the fiery Brit gatecrashed Gennady Golovkin’s press presentation in London in 2017, Canelo has been itching to get his hands on Saunders.

Saunders has already stated that he is not in Texas to make up the numbers, but rather to pull off one of the most stunning upsets in recent boxing history.

Canelo’s last genuine competitive bout was 18 months ago, when he faced Sergey Kovalev at light-heavyweight. The 31-year-old has the tools to answer Canelo’s questions.

Back in 2014, Canelo faced another southpaw, Erislandy Lara, in one of his toughest fights of his career.

Although Saunders’ technical technique, use of the jab, and smooth movement are reminiscent of Lara, the pound-for-pound great has drastically improved since then.

The build-up to this bout hasn’t been bad either, with Saunders selling the fight like crazy.

He was irritated by the lack of a British judge on the bench before refusing to give in to Canelo’s quest for a 20-foot ring.

Instead, the gypsy warrior from Hertfordshire has struck a contract to fight Canelo inside a 22-foot ring.

Saunders’ antics and behavior inside the bubble have angered Canelo’s management, especially after he informed a Mexican reporter that his “breath smelled like s***.”

Things are now in place for a fantastic main event at AT&T Stadium, with 70,000 fans expected to attend, a new high for an American indoor venue.

It will also be the most significant sporting event since the pandemic turned the globe on its head.

Tyson Fury will be in attendance to support his pal, and his undisputed heavyweight title match with Anthony Joshua might be made official after the bout.
