Bristol City and Watford are monitoring developments with Wigan Athletic centre back Chey Dunkley.
The 28-year old is fit again after suffering a double leg break in February. He utilised the lockdown period to undergo intensive rehabilitation and is targeting a return to action for the new season.
Dunkley is out of contract as Wigan fell into administration before they could finalise new terms for the 6ft 3ins defender.
Dunkley had been enjoying a strong season prior to his injury, scoring six goals in 28 games.
Indeed two of those came against Bristol City and they are one of the clubs who have maintained a watchful eye on his recovery as they consider making a move. The fact he is free makes him more appealing.
Watford have also shown an interest mindful they need to boost their homegrown quota in the Championship.
