Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen is expected to return to Tottenham for pre-season training later this week.
The 27-year-old admitted earlier this summer that he would like a new challenge but no official bids have yet been made for him, despite reported interest from Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United.
Spurs fly out to Asia for a pre-season tour next Wednesday and Eriksen is likely to be on the plane.
Some of Eriksen’s team-mates have already returned to training after their summer breaks but a final batch of players — also including Harry Kane, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertongen — are not due back until this Thursday or Friday.
The Telegraph report that Eriksen is in limbo while Paul Pogba’s future waits to be resolved. Pogba, 26, wants to leave Old Trafford and it is said that both Real and Juventus view him as their No 1 target — ahead of Eriksen.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy slapped a £130m price-tag on Eriksen earlier this summer, but The Telegraph claim that Real value him between £60m and £70m.
If Eriksen stays at Spurs, he could face all three of the clubs who have courted him during a busy pre-season schedule. Mauricio Pochettino’s globe-trotting side take on Juventus in Singapore, before clashing with United in Shanghai and then meeting Real in the Audi Cup in Munich.
Eriksen has entered the final year of his contract with Spurs, who will be desperate for him to sign a new deal if he doesn’t leave before August’s transfer deadline.
Alderweireld also has just under 12 months left on his current Spurs deal. The Belgian centre back is available for £25m due to an extension clause which Spurs activated last year.
