Tony Ferguson takes a shot at Michael Chandler in UFC 262: ‘You have Dana White privilege,’ says the narrator.
Michael Chandler, according to “El Cucuy,” earned his title opportunity a little too easy.
When the stars of the main card arrived on stage for the UFC 262 news conference to face questions from the media ahead of fight night in Houston, Texas, sparks flared. The finest conversation of the night, though, occurred between two fighters who were competing in separate bouts.
Tony Ferguson, the former interim lightweight champion, will compete in the night’s co-main event against fellow contender Beneil Dariush.
While Ferguson spoke about his own fight, he focused a lot of his attention on the battle immediately above it on the card.
That’s because the vacant UFC lightweight title is up for grabs, with Charles Oliveira of Brazil taking on Michael Chandler of the United States for the undisputed title.
Ferguson, while being likely the top lightweight contender over the previous few years, has never had the opportunity to compete for the title due to injuries and bad luck.
That reality is plainly a source of conflict for “El Cucuy,” who took jabs at one-half of the night’s main event, implying Chandler wasn’t deserving of his chance at gold.
Ferguson and Chandler were close to fighting in a fight late last year, but the fight never materialized, and the former interim champion took aim at Chandler to let him know how he felt about his spot in Saturday night’s main event.
Ferguson interjected, “You f****** dodged me too, Chandler.” “You’re a jerk. Man, you said no. ”This s*** was delivered to you. You’ve got Dana White access.”

Ferguson’s witty remark elicited laughter from the audience, including from UFC president Dana White, who was caught off guard by the remark.
Ferguson wasn’t done yet, as he claimed that the powers that be were hell-bent on keeping him from winning the title.
“Take a look at this s**t: Dana was right. “It’s all about timing,” he continued.
“Having the title wasn’t supposed to be mine.
“I would have given everyone a chance if I could. These people are going to do everything they can to avoid taking the crown.
