Thiago Silva lapped up the last of the summer sunshine before boarding a flight to London as his attention turns to his first season with Chelsea.
The veteran defender has been enjoying a break in Sardinia with his wife Isabele, who posted a picture of them on a boat off the coast.
Silva played his last game for PSG in the Champions League final defeat by Bayern Munich before signing with the Blues as a free agent.
Frank Lampard has afforded the 35-year-old some extended time off to recover and he recharged the batteries in idyllic surroundings.
His wife shared two snaps of them both in swimming gear and wrote the caption: ‘It’s beautiful when someone chooses to stay when they can leave.
‘I never looked for perfection, and we are that, the “imperfect” choice, but surely, the most certain thing we did in life, I love you.’
But she later took to her Instagram to show the couple boarding a private flight destined for London as he prepares to join his new team-mates at Cobham.
Silva completed his medical in Milan before jetting off for a break.
He joined on a one-year deal and is expected to slot into the heart of the defence.
The Brazilian is part of a new look Chelsea side with Roman Abramovich having splashed £231million on Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Kai Havertz with Malang Sarr signing on a free.
After the deal for Silva was completed he told the club’s website: ‘I am so happy to be joining Chelsea.
‘I am delighted to be a part of Frank Lampard’s exciting squad for next season and I’m here to challenge for honours.
‘See you soon Chelsea fans, I look forward to playing at Stamford Bridge very soon.’
