The overlooked man of Liverpool has a chance to show himself to Jurgen Klopp. Haaland, Erling
Although Klopp may have such a striker in his ranks, Liverpool would be priced out of a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Haaland.
Erling Haaland’s future has been one of the most talked-about topics of the summer transfer season so far. Liverpool, on the other hand, would almost probably be priced out of a bid for the Borussia Dortmund striker, despite the fact that they are in desperate need of a striker this summer.
Dortmund has set a £150 million price tag on the Norwegian, which means the Reds will almost certainly have to sell one of their top players to fund the move.
Rather than doing so, Jurgen Klopp could go to the periphery of his team to fill the void left by Haaland.
Liverpool are now in Austria for a pre-season training camp, and Klopp has made it clear that players who have fallen out of favor in the past can return to the team.
Taiwo Awoniyi joined to Anfield from Imperial Academy in Nigeria in 2015 for a little sum.
However, because he was not in possession of a work permit, he was unable to make a single competitive appearance for the Reds.
In recent seasons, he has been loaned out to Frankfurt, Gent, and Nijmegen as a result of this predicament.
Awoniyi spent the previous two seasons in the Bundesliga, first with Mainz and subsequently with Union Berlin, who was just promoted.
He struggled in Mainz’s victorious relegation battle, scoring only one goal in 12 appearances.
But the 23-year-old had a better time in Berlin, scoring five goals and establishing himself as a fixture in Urs Fischer’s lineup.
Union finished in the top seven for the first time, losing out on European qualification by just two points.
His loan spells may be coming to an end now that the striker has been granted a work permit to play for the Reds.
Despite the fact that his goal total has not yet matched Haaland’s, Awoniyi has been compared to the Dortmund striker.
His playing style is also similar to the type of striker Klopp has used in the past when he was a manager in Germany.
With Klopp looking for improvements in attacking areas, he now has the chance to show that he can actually live up to the comparisons to Haaland.
