The conqueror of Emma Raducanu reveals how to deconstruct the British sensation.

Emma Raducanu was stunned in the first round at the BNP Paribas Open.

Emma Raducanu’s Indian Wells conqueror Aliaksandra Sasnovich has explained how she defeated the US Open champion last week. British starlet Raducanu was stunned by World No 100 Sasnovich in the round of 64 at the BNP Paribas Open.

This was Raducanu’s first appearance since her incredible triumph in New York.

The Bromley-based teen rose to stardom with her performances at Wimbledon, where she reached the fourth round in the summer, and in the States.

Her 6-4 6-3 win over Canada’s Leylah Fernandez at the US Open made her the first British woman to win a Grand Slam since Virginia Wade’s Wimbledon success in 1977.

But Raducanu was brought back down to earth in her first match since that outstanding victory.

Belarusian Sasnovich won 6-2 6-4 and progressed to the round of 32 while Raducanu was sent home.

And the 27-year-old has explained how she overcame Raducanu, who did not drop a set in 10 matches at Flushing Meadows. Sasnovich told reporters that she concentrated on lobs and dropshots.

“Yeah, I saw few matches of her when she played US Open and Wimbledon as well,” Sasnovich explained.

“Yeah, she’s really a talented girl. She have a strong forehand, backhand. She try to be always aggressive.

“Honestly, I didn’t see her match like today or yesterday. But my coach and my dad, they check how she play.

“They gave me plan how I need to play, what I need to do. I tried to do what they told me. Sometimes did something interesting from myself, you know, some dropshots, lobs. Yeah, I played how I felt just.”

Sasnovich went on to produce another shock.

She beat two-time Grand Slam winner and former World No 1 Simona Halep 7-5 6-4 in the next round.

Raducanu would have been desperate to play Halep as she has long looked up to the Romanian.

Sasnovich had high praise for Raducanu and even insisted that the World No 22 – who has shot up from 331 in the rankings this year – is one of the best players in the world.

“I won more money (smiling). Yeah, it’s little different. But it’s not about the money, just joking, yeah,” she continued.

“It’s really important for. “Brinkwire Summary News”.
