STEVEN GERRARD insists that his side’s preparations for their Europe League clash with Royal Antwerp have not been derailed by off-field antics this week.
Earlier today, Gerrard confirmed that five players had breached Covid regulations. He admitted to being “personally let down” by recent events and reiterated that Bongani Zungu, Nathan Paterson, Dapo Mebude, Brian Kinnear and Calvin Bassey would be dealt with internally.

Speaking at his press conference today however, Gerrard insisted that the ongoings have had no effect on the squad that has travelled to Belgium.
“We’ve had no disruption on the inside this week in terms of our preparation on the training pitch,” he said. “We’ve had decent numbers even though they’ve changed with the three or four that are usually training with us on a daily basis.
“But it hasn’t had any interruption on our preparation, we’ve still had quality numbers.
“I don’t know if the boys have got the bit between their teeth but they certainly look really in the zone and focused and ready to put in a performance tomorrow night.
“Now, I can only gauge the mood and where I think they’re at and I’m really content with where they’re going into tomorrow’s game.
“I can see a twinkle in the boy’s eyes, they’re really ready to go and if training is anything to go by, I think we’re about to put in a performance.”
