Steve Bruce, a former Manchester United player, is lobbying for the post of interim manager as his agency approaches the club.

Newcastle terminated Manchester United legend Steve Bruce last month.

Steve Bruce, a Manchester United legend, is reportedly pressing for a move to Old Trafford after his agent approached the club about taking over as interim manager. After sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday morning, United are on the market for a new manager.

After being fired by Newcastle last month following their mega-money takeover, Bruce is currently without a club.

The 60-year-old had been in charge at St James’ Park for just over two years when he was fired after the team failed to win a single game throughout the season.

The Red Devils named Michael Carrick as their caretaker manager over the weekend, but they are still looking for a permanent replacement until the conclusion of the season.

United’s top brass are said to have compiled a shortlist of five likely candidates to keep them going until May.

Ralf Rangnick, Ernesto Valverde, Rudi Garcia, and Lucien Favre are all rumored to be in the running for the post, yet the club may opt to keep Carrick.

At this time, the United administration is not understood to be exploring a move for Bruce, who is now regarded as an outsider to take over at Old Trafford.
