Emile Smith Rowe may have hinted at his Arsenal future amid reports of interest from Aston Villa.
Emile Smith Rowe appears to have disclosed his new Arsenal shirt number ahead of the upcoming Premier League season, despite speculation that he may leave the Emirates Stadium this summer. Aston Villa have made two bids for the outstanding midfielder, but both have been rejected by Arsenal.
Dean Smith’s side made an initial £20 million proposal for the 20-year-old, but it was turned down, as was a second offer in the area of £30 million.
Last season, the Arsenal youth graduate made an impression for Mikel Arteta’s team, scoring twice and providing four assists across all competitions.
Arsenal’s future is very much in the hands of Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka, and the club is desperate to keep hold of their youthful attacking prospects at all costs.
When asked if Smith Rowe would be staying at the club after the Gunners’ pre-season loss to Hibernian, Arteta replied, “Without a doubt.” He’ll be staying here. “Without a doubt.”
This was undoubtedly the news Arsenal fans had hoped to hear, yet the Croydon-born midfielder may have hinted that he will be playing his football in north London next season.

The child is now wearing number 32, but it appears that he will be upgraded to a more popular number.
During a training session with the Gunners earlier this week, Smith Rowe was seen attempting to hide his new shirt number, but he may have now given away the game.
Mesut Ozil most recently wore the number ten shirt for Arsenal, although he left the club permanently in January to join Fenerbahce of Turkey.
Smith Rowe’s current contract with Arsenal expires in two years, and the north London club is said to be in talks about extending it.
He now makes around £15,000 per week at Arsenal, but his pay are expected to climb to nearly £40,000 if he commits his future to the club.
Villa will hope he chooses a new challenge, despite Smith Rowe’s past statements about his feelings for Arsenal.
