After Celtic’s training camp in Dubai, Shane Duffy returned home.
Currently on loan from Brighton, The Hoops defender was photographed boarding a flight this morning to London Heathrow.
It is suspected that because of a personal family problem, the Republic of Ireland captain had to fly back urgently.
The Central Defense was supposed to be improved by Duffy, but his transfer from Brighton was a disaster. Only in Saturday’s loss at Ibrox did Lennon use him when Nir Bitton – a midfielder who started in central defense – was sent off.
We reported yesterday how, as a bundle of nerves behind the scenes, former Celtic defender Adam Virgo thinks Shane Duffy would have struggled even more against Rangers at a packed Ibrox Stadium.
“I don’t even want to think what Shane would have been like in a full stadium [at Ibrox],”I don’t even want to think what Shane would be like in a full stadium [at Ibrox]. I think it would have been ten times worse for him. When he came on against Rangers, he looked like a nervous mess. Those things can happen, as they did to me.
Unfortunately, so many errors were made by Shane that led to goals. Neil is going to be very courageous to hang on to him. I don’t think Shane would tell you that he didn’t get a chance.
