A global pandemic may have drastically hampered their European plans but nobody knows how to do the Europa League better than Sevilla.
The Spanish giants eased themselves back into familiar territory with an X victory over Italian royalty Roma on Thursday evening, taking victory in the one-off fixture to book their place in the next round.
Sergio Reguilon opened the scoring after just 20-minutes played for Sevilla, as Julen Lopetegui’s side wasted no time in imposing themselves on the contest.
The style was turned on as full-back Reguilon broke the deadlock in spectacular style, taking the ball from Ever Banega before gliding past Gianluci Mancini and rifling a distance effort past helpless goalkeeper Pau Lopez.
Echoing voices could be heard reverberating around the MSV-Arena in Duisburg, Germany, as the two sides battled hard to claw an advantage in the unusual fixture.
But it was Sevilla who would strike the next blow, doubling their lead shortly after the half-time interval.
Youssef En-Nesyri was on hand to turn in from close range, following a swift section of build-up and a pinpoint fizzing cross from Lucas Ocampos.
