Serge Aurier makes his mind up about joining Arsenal on a free transfer after Tottenham’s departure.

Serge Aurier’s contract with Tottenham was terminated at the end of August.

After canceling his contract with Tottenham, Serge Aurier may explore taking the controversial route of joining north London rivals Arsenal. After becoming a free agent this summer, the Ivorian defender is looking for a new team.

On transfer deadline day, August 31, Tottenham stated that they had decided to terminate his contract, allowing him to choose a new club for the 2021-22 season.

Spurs issued a statement saying, “The Club can confirm Serge Aurier’s departure following the mutual termination of his contract.”

If the Ivory Coast international gets his wish, they may soon be facing Aurier on the other side.

Arsenal is one of the clubs that have been informed of his intentions. The 28-year-old is apparently wanting to stay in England.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham have exhausted all options in trying to help Aurier leave the club during the transfer window.

Spurs would have received a fee if the full-back had accepted offers from France, Russia, and Turkey, but the deal fell through.

However, with no offers enticing enough for either the club or the player, Aurier chose to unilaterally terminate his contract with the club.

Aurier, who joined for £23 million from PSG in 2017, had previously told the club of his intention to leave at the end of the previous season, having signed a five-year contract.

“I have really enjoyed my time at Spurs and would want to thank the Club and the fans,” he stated after leaving the club.

But I believe the moment has come for me to take on a new challenge.”

After allowing Hector Bellerin to join Real Betis on loan for the season, Arsenal were looking to bring in a right-back.

Mikel Arteta, on the other hand, made his sixth summer signing when he signed Bologna’s Japan international Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The 23-year-old has agreed to a long-term contract worth £16 million, bringing Arsenal’s total outlay to £150 million.

If Tomiyasu is unavailable, Arteta has Calum Chambers, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and Cedric on standby.

The Gunners are currently bottom of the Premier League, having lost three games in a row and conceding nine goals without scoring.

And the Gunners might take advantage of the possibility to capture Aurier for free. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
