Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone and Chelsea’s new signing Saul had a falling out.

Chelsea secured a last-minute deal to bring Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, just seconds before the transfer market closed. The 26-year-old has signed a loan agreement with Chelsea, but the Blues have the option to buy him.

Saul was a sought man this summer, with Manchester United and Liverpool rumored to be interested in signing him.

Chelsea eventually penned a contract to sign the midfielder, who made 340 appearances at the Metropolitano Stadium during his stint there.

Chelsea will pay £4.2 million for the loan, with the option to sign Saul on a permanent basis for a further £34.3 million.

And Saul’s acrimonious spat with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone exemplifies the type of player Chelsea are getting.

Following his move to the Blues, Saul informed Spanish Twitch broadcaster Ibai Llanos, “I spoke with Simeone.”

“I’ve been playing in various spots for the past three seasons.

“I requested that Simeone and Miguel Angel [Atletico CEO] train in my capacity. I understand he rejected, and they made their decision from there.

“I saw myself trapped in a situation I didn’t want to be in. Chelsea has guaranteed me that I will be able to train in my position.

“Chelsea’s option was to challenge themselves and get out of their comfort zone.”

Saul is said to have always desired to play more forward than the defensive midfield role he was assigned in Madrid.

And it’s unclear whether Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will play the Spain international more forward or in a similar capacity to N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.

Tuchel has a number of attacking alternatives, with Mason Mount and Kai Havertz flanking summer addition Romelu Lukaku in Chelsea’s last two matches.

“I want to do various moves and positions that I wasn’t able to do in the former position,” Saul continued.

“It is the most crucial factor in my selection.

“It has been the most difficult decision of my life for me, and I have sought advice from a variety of sources.

“The goal is to compete and discover myself – to see the Saul I want to see.

“I wasn’t able to demonstrate my abilities to others. “Brinkwire Summary News” says that if you aren’t learning, you aren’t improving.
