As he prepares to return to the PGA Tour, Rory McIlroy thinks that he is “the best golfer in the world.”

Rory McIlroy believes he is the best golfer in the world, despite a rough 18 months.

Prior to his return to the PGA Tour this week for the CJ Cup in Las Vegas, Rory McIlroy, the former world No. 1, stated that he believes he is “the finest golfer in the world.”

This will be his first appearance since the terrible Ryder Cup final day, when he sobbed following Europe’s humiliating defeat to the Americans at Whistling Straits.

While established himself as one of the best in the world over the last decade, the Northern Irishman has struggled in recent months, falling out of the top 15 for the first time since 2009.

Despite a rough year and a half, the four-time major champion believes that when he is at his best, he is the best player in the world.

“When I play my best, I think I’m the best golfer in the world,” McIlroy remarked.

I haven’t played like that in a long time, but I don’t think I need to go back to the outbreak, when I was the best player on the planet.

“I don’t have to go far back in time to discover my name at the top of the rankings,” the insider claims. Obviously, the last 18 months haven’t gone as planned, but I’m not that far away in the larger scheme of things.” The 32-year-old, who has only one win in less than two years, believes that the competition he faces is becoming more difficult each year, and that there is now a fine line to be drawn between keeping a high level of quality and also improving oneself.

“And there are a lot of terrific players now,” he continued, “who obviously play really, really fantastic golf.”

“It’s not the job I want, but there are a lot of other guys out there who want to do the same thing as me, and I recognize the competition is growing tougher every year.” All you have to do now is try to keep up, if not to improve.” Prior to the event in Vegas, McIlroy addressed the matter as well. “Summary of Brinkwire News.”
