Roger Federer’s former coach slams Novak Djokovic for his role in the Australian Open drama.

Roger Federer’s former coach has slammed Novak Djokovic for the Australian Open drama.

The final court hearing for NOVAK DJOKOVIC has been rescheduled for Monday.

Paul Annacone, Roger Federer’s former coach, has chastised Novak Djokovic for disobeying clear “rules” in place, with the world No. 1 being ordered to leave Australia.

Djokovic announced earlier this week that he had been granted a “medical exemption” to compete in the Australian Open.

All players who planned to compete in the Australian Open would need to be vaccinated, according to Tennis Australia chief Craig Tiley.

Tiley confirmed in December that some players would be granted medical exemptions to compete in the first major of 2022.

And it appears that Djokovic’s medical exemption was granted earlier this week, as the 20-time Grand Slam winner is scheduled to fly out to Melbourne on Wednesday.

However, due to concerns about his visa application, Djokovic was detained at the airport by Border Force.

He was interrogated for hours by federal officials, with Australia’s prime minister, Scott Morrison, later claiming that no such medical exemption existed and accusing Djokovic of attempting to “run the border.”

Djokovic’s lawyers responded by filing an urgent court appeal to have the visa denial overturned.

The meeting has been postponed until Monday, and Djokovic will remain in a refugee center until then.

The arrival of Djokovic in Melbourne sparked outrage among Melbourne residents, who had to endure strict lockdowns during the pandemic.

While Annacone sympathizes with Djokovic and “everyone involved,” he believes there is more going on “behind the scenes.”

Annacone said on Tennis Channel, “It’s startling.”

“It’s been an incredible 24 hours, and this has been a tumultuous turn of events for Novak Djokovic.”

“He thought he did everything right by applying for his medical exemption according to the government’s rules, but once he arrived, it turned out he didn’t put his visa together properly, which to me seems a stretch.”

“However, you must obviously follow certain rules.”

“There are a few players in there who have received medical clearance but have not yet been vaccinated.”

“Clearly, something is going on with the visa and what’s going on behind the scenes.”

“A public outcry has erupted.”

This is a country, and the state of Victoria in particular, that.
