Real Madrid ‘are monitoring the progress of Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde’ after the 21-year-old enjoyed an impressive season.
The Frenchman signed for Sevilla from Bordeaux in a £22million deal last summer and has done well in LaLiga as his team qualified for next season’s Champions League.
The newly-crowned LaLiga champions are looking for a new defender with Sergio Ramos now 34 and Eder Militao looking unconvincing at times.
And, according to ESPN, Kounde could be the man to bolster Real’s defensive ranks as back-up to captain Ramos and Raphael Varane.
Kounde formed an effective defensive partnership with Diego Carlos at Sevilla, who finished fourth in the table and could yet win the UEFA Europa League.
Zidane reportedly likes Kounde for his speed and good positioning on the pitch, believing that at 21 there is also good scope for development.
With other clubs interested, Real are keen to steal a march but with Kounde contracted to Sevilla until June 2024, they will have to pay at least £32m.
Real have also been linked with Dayot Upamecano of RB Leipzig as they look to strengthen at the back and identify Ramos’s long term successor.
