Before the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic receives bad news about his visa status.

Novak Djokovic is about to be expelled from Australia.

The Australian government revoked Djokovic’s visa for the second time ahead of the Australian Open, according to ESPN.

This is all part of Djokovic’s decision to compete in the tournament despite not having received a COVID-19 vaccine.

Minister of Immigration Alex Hawke said he cancelled Djokovic’s visa using his ministerial discretion.

The tennis legend is now facing deportation just three days before the Australian Open, a tournament in which he has won nine of his 20 Grand Slam titles.

Djokovic is appealing the decision, and his lawyers are hoping for the same outcome as earlier this week, when a judge ruled in his favor after his visa was revoked for the second time.

If Djokovic, 34, is deported from Australia, he could face a three-year ban from the country.

Hawke said in a statement that he revoked Djokovic’s visa due to “health and good order concerns,” and that Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s government “is firmly committed to protecting Australia’s borders, particularly in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Everyone who attends the Australian Open must be vaccinated, including players, support teams, and fans.

Djokovic has sought a medical exemption after contracting COVID-19 in December.

The exemption was granted by the state of Victoria and Tennis Australia, allowing him to obtain a travel visa.

When he arrived in Melbourne in January, however, the Australian Border Force rejected the exception and revoked his visa.

“This pandemic has been incredibly difficult for every Australian, but we have remained united and saved lives and livelihoods.”

“Australians have made numerous sacrifices during this pandemic, and they have a right to expect that the fruits of those sacrifices be protected,” Morrison said in a statement.

“This is what the Minister is doing today when he takes this action.”

Djokovic has won the Australian Open the last three years.

He’s coming off a stellar 2021 season in which he won the French Open and Wimbledon, as well as reaching the US Open finals.

Djokovic has 86 ATP singles titles and 37 Masters titles to his credit in his career.

Currently, he is the No. 1 player in the world.

The number one tennis player in the world.
