Liverpool’s match against Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime kicks off Gameweek 31. Brighton’s match against Wolves and Manchester United’s trip to Sunderland take play at 3 p.m.
Manchester City will visit Brentford at 5:30 p.m. in an attempt to maintain their title aspirations. On Sunday, Nottingham Forest will play Newcastle and Burnley will host Aston Villa.
Our weekend ends with a pivotal match at both ends of the table, with title favourites Arsenal hoping to take a significant step towards glory by defeating West Ham on the road. West Ham needs a victory to try to retake the lead over Tottenham in the relegation battle.
This week’s expert is Lewis Steele, and this is his analysis of the games:
I am excited to attend Saturday’s lunchtime battle of the underperformers at Anfield, where a poor Liverpool team takes on an even worse Chelsea.
Last weekend, both teams hit new lows as poor Calum McFarlane’s team lost to Nottingham Forest’s reserves and arch rivals Manchester United completed the double over Arne Slot’s team with another weak performance.
This week’s Daily Mail Sport expert to beat is Lewis Steele.
Chelsea vs. Liverpool: Home victory
Brighton wins at home against Wolves
Man United vs. Sunderland: AWAY WIN
Man City wins at home vs Brentford
Aston Villa vs. Burnley: A landslide victory
Newcastle vs. Nottm Forest: Home Win
Arsenal vs. West Ham: AWAY WIN
In any case, I’m rooting for Chelsea to go farther down the standings and for Liverpool to return to winning ways, which would guarantee Champions League football. They were firmly in the top five battle only a month ago, so a bottom-half finish is very likely. Horrible.
Following Monday night’s chaos at Everton, Manchester City will face Brentford at home.
I can recall the Bees giving City a game on multiple occasions throughout the years, and Pep Guardiola famously compared playing them to “going to the dentist” because they make you uncomfortable.
I believe it will be close because Saturday will be the same, but I’m picking City to win.
Arsenal will be under pressure as a result on Sunday at the London Stadium. I think the Gunners will win the Premier League if they win it. It’s hilarious that West Ham will have a significant impact on Arsenal and Tottenham’s results this season.
With the boisterous atmosphere and small pitch at Upton Park, I would have preferred Nuno Espirito Santo’s team to make it difficult for the winners, but I can’t see it here, so I’m picking Arsenal to prevail.
Brighton will play Wolves, and I think the Seagulls will overcome last week’s lacklustre showing to rekindle their European push.
I think Manchester United will defeat Sunderland away from home. Although Regis Le Bris’s team has had some respectable successes lately, such defeating Tottenham and winning the Tyne-Wear derby, I believe the Black Cats’ bubble has completely popped and they may face relegation next season.
Lastly, the Midlands’ Europa League semi-finalists will play two games on Sunday. I think Nottingham Forest will defeat Newcastle at home and Aston Villa will triumph at Burnley.
