After supporters questioned how he was able to enter the field and participate in Arsenal’s Premier League triumph celebrations, Piers Morgan answered in jest.
After Arsenal won the Premier League trophy at Selhurst Park on Sunday, Morgan was spotted on the field with his sons Bertie, Stanley, and Spencer.
After defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 on the last day of the season, the Gunners were given the trophy.
Earlier in the week, after Man City failed to defeat Bournemouth, Arsenal was officially crowned champions for the first time in 22 years.
Morgan was one of numerous well-known Arsenal supporters that entered the field after the team lifted the trophy.
Comedian Jack Whitehall and Eastenders star Jake Wood were among the spectators, and before the final whistle, Morgan was spotted in the stands with Line of Duty actor Adrian Dunbar.
After attending Arsenal’s Premier League triumph celebration with his sons on Sunday, Piers Morgan has addressed criticism from the public.
After Morgan photographed with Arsenal’s Premier League-winning manager in 2022, supporters brought attention to his prior criticism of Arteta, including a call for his dismissal.
Later, Morgan posted pictures from the festivities, showing the broadcaster and his sons with Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, and a number of Arsenal players.
Viktor Gyokeres, captain Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, and Bukayo Saka were among those who posed with Morgan.
“Why was Piers Morgan & his clan on the pitch at Selhurst?” a fan said in response to a picture of Morgan and Rice celebrating.
There’s nothing worse than celebrity fans interfering. particularly one who repeatedly demanded Arteta’s head in the early years.
“Maybe because I had the foresight to buy 4 tickets at the beginning of March when I felt it might be a momentous day for the club I’ve supported for 55 years,” Morgan retorted.
“As for Arteta, I couldn’t be happier because he proved me and many others wrong.”
The commentator responded, “I didn’t pay for Declan to run over and put his winner’s medal around my neck for a souvenir pic, that’s true,” in response to a question from another fan about how the tickets gave Morgan and his family access to the field. However, I was overjoyed that he did.
After another fan commented, “All the away fans were allowed on the pitch for photos with the players? Wow!” Morgan added, “Only the good-looking ones.”
During the festivities, Morgan said Declan Rice had rushed over and put his winner’s medal around his neck.
After winning the Premier League, Arsenal will now aim to win the Champions League.
Morgan was spotted sharing a congratulatory drink with Stan Kroenke, the owner of Arsenal, after the on-field festivities, while the Gunners continued to raise a glass to their eagerly anticipated victory.
Celebrity chef Salt Bae, who notably obtained access to Argentina’s celebrations after winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and kissed the trophy, was unfavorably likened to Morgan by some Arsenal supporters.
Others had also pointed out that Morgan, one of Arsenal’s most outspoken supporters, had demanded that Arteta be fired as manager in 2022 before spearheading the team’s incredible comeback. After posting a photo of himself and his sons on the field with Arteta, Morgan commented, “The man who brought the glory back to Arsenal after 22 long and often tortuous years. What an honor to see him with my sons on the day we were crowned Champions.” Mikel Arteta, thank you.
Arsenal will now focus on winning the Champions League for the first time after finishing seven points ahead of Man City.
On Saturday, the Gunners will play PSG, the current champions, in the final in Budapest.
According to Morgan, he was “very very confident” that Arsenal would win Europe.
