PFL 1: With a first-round knockout, Brendan Loughnane rockets to the top of the table.

Manchester featherweight puts on a spectacular performance to take the lead in the PFL featherweight standings.

Brendan Loughnane, a British featherweight prospect, began his PFL season with a sensational first-round knockout of Sheymon Moraes.

Manchester’s Loughnane was in action in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on the first night of the PFL’s 2021 season, and the Brit delivered the biggest performance of the night to finish Moraes and send a message to his 145-pound competitors.

Loughnane looked fantastic in his bout against former UFC fighter Moraes, displaying his razor-sharp striking.

With strikes, he battered the Brazilian and backed him up against the fence, aiming for a finish.

After a barrage of shots, the Brit struck clean with a powerful right hand that put his opponent to the canvas for a spectacular first-round knockout.

“Clean. That’s something you can say again! He commented shortly after his victory, “That was decisive.”

“I’m coming right in. There will be no more judicial decisions. This year, no one is going to take advantage of me, dude. Baby, six points! What? Who will be the next victim?

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa

What exactly is going on there?

“Do they have no idea who I am?” Come on, buddy! I’ve spent my entire life playing this game. Thirteen years of dedication. My only losses were decisions robbery.

“Now Brendan has figured out his game, and any of these featherweights can play it.

“Sheymon Moraes has defeated top-tier UFC competitors. It’s a global Muay Thai champion we’re talking about. I just walked in there and took him out.”

After claiming the maximum possible points haul from his first bout of the season, Loughnane has established himself as the man to beat in the 2021 PFL season.

Fighters in the PFL get three points for a win and one point for a draw, with bonus points available for triumphs inside the distance.
